Cartoonist story in Mizzou magazine
The Winter 2008 issue of Mizzou (The magazine of the MU Alumni Association) has a cover story on New Yorker cartoonist Michael Shaw. (You’ll have to track down a paper copy of the magazine to read the story.) He graduated from MU in 1992, and his masters thesis was on “cartoonists’ and readers’ attitudes towards newspaper comics.”
Along with the story, the magazine is running a contest to see who can come up with the best one liner to a panel that Shaw has drawn. According to the webpage, “Shaw will hand-letter his favorite gag line on the original artwork and we’ll ship the completed cartoon to you in mid-January 2008.”
