More details about superhero event
The Be a Superhero for Columbia Public Schools event is coming soon. According to a Tribune article last week, the organizers not only have a new website, but also a new Guinness record to break of 1,580 people dressed in superhero costumes. The event starts at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30th at the Hickman High School football field, with the official count being taken at 12:15 p.m.
Ways to support the event:
- Attend, in costume.
- Be a sponsor.
- Recruit others to attend (friends, co-workers, clubs, etc.).
- Volunteer to help with planning or on the day of the event.
How to get a costume:
- Make your own costume at Creative Days Art Studio. The studio will host costume creation sessions on Oct. 14th, Oct. 21st, and Oct. 28th from noon to 7 p.m. The studio will charge $7 an hour but will donate $5 of every admission to the schools foundation. Children and adults are both encouraged to attend.
- Reserve or buy a costume at the Gotcha costume shop. They’ve ordered extra superhero costumes for the event, and you can donate your old superhero costumes to them as well.
Some more information is available on our previous blog post about the event.
