Mort Walker appearing today at MU Student Center Dedication
The new version of the Shack, now known as Mort’s Grill, is now temporarily open in the new MU Student Center on campus. According to the Tribune, Mort Walker will be there today for the dedication of the new student center at 3pm, and he will be doing a book signing at 5pm.
The Missourian reports that the first 1,600 students who drop by the student center between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. today will be able to grab a free Shackburger or pulled pork sandwich. They are also handing out Shack sauce that is based off of a recipe from the old Shack.
Updated (10/23/10): Contrary to what the Missourian article seemed to imply, the Mort’s Grill eatery is not open for everyday student use yet. They are still doing construction around the area, and one employee estimated that the work will be done mid-November. For this special event, a half finished version of the eatery was open for private donor events and to hand out free Shack burgers around lunch.
