For the August midmococo meeting Andrew K. walked in with a unique jam idea and we all ran with it. We all wrote down some notable “real” people on little papers slips, and we also wrote down some fictional “characters” on some other paper slips. We made separate piles of the slips of paper and we each dug out a slip from each pile. The idea is that we were to draw up “movie posters” of real people playing certain characters. (This line was blurred at several points as you can see.) Look below for what we came up with.

This jam almost didn’t get done because only a few folks showed up to this month’s meeting. Yes, you should be disappointed in yourselves for not coming. Yes, this is a total guilt trip I’m laying on. We had a few new comic enthusiasts show up only to find us a pitiful few. I’m sure they mock us. To make up for it, you must bring 10 new drawings to the next meeting or the hot dog monster will get you.

Since I had to cut out of the Last Midmococo meeting a little early and head out of town, I wasn’t able to collect the comic jams. Luckily, Dan collected them all and scanned them for me, so here they are. I promise there’s no slash fiction this time!

We churned out some jams last night’s pitchers and pictures event at Gumbys. Jam participants include: Andrew, Fading Aura, Winter, Dan & K. Major. The second to last jam pictured is something that Fading Aura came up with where he and Dan each wrote out phrases for the other one to interpret in pictures as they saw fit. The last jam here is something Dan came up with where he drew a picture of supes and we all had other heroes talk about him.

The last Midmococo meeting produced an impressive amount of jams, as you can see above. Not only did we do a ton of jams, Kirstin had us also draw superheros on index cards. You can view the whole set on her blog.

This month’s comic jam can only be described by a haiku:
Existential toast
May you find your radish peace
I weep for you now

If you can measure how successful a Midmococo event is by the amount of jams churned out, then this last one was a huge success. We cranked out a total of 9 jams. One of them we left for the staff of Gumby’s Pizza for being great hosts. We got a photo of it on a digital camera, so you can still see it.
We started with a pizza theme and then moved on to making fun of the ever-popular sexy catgirl manga cliché in various ways. If you like sexy catgirls, you’ll like these jams! Rowl …

Even though the Artisan was unexpectedly closed this Sunday, we still managed to get our meeting going across the street which resulted in a two-page jam. We were having such a good time that we migrated over to Gumby’s Pizza for a trial run of the Pictures and Pitchers and churned out three more jams. With the last two, we deviated from the regular jam session and tried our hand at the exquisite corpse. With the last one, we tried drawing the sections without looking at the other parts of the picture. I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be, but making it was fun.
Be ready to do it again on Saturday at the Pictures and Pitchers event.

Another meeting, another rockin’ comic jam. We had a pretty good turnout this meeting with a new visitor. Unfortunately, out of all the people who looked at the jam, no one told me that I drew the girl’s hands backwards, so I changed them after the fact. I’m the webmaster, so I can do that.

The last Midmococo meeting had such a big turnout that this month’s comic jam had to expand to two pages. In attendance were some new people from the 24 Hour Comics Day event and a couple of journalism students doing a report for the Maneater. We’ve been getting a lot of media coverage lately!
