Now there are more ways to get your grubby, little mits on the Mid-Missouri Comics anthology Vol. 1.

For $6 you can purchase a copy of your very own at Rock Bottom Comics. Look for it on the local creators rack.

If you are budget challenged, you can also find a couple of copies at the Daniel Boone Regional Library for check out.

As before, you can also snag a discounted copy at one of our monthly Midmococo meetings or by contacting us.

Mid-Missouri Comics Vol. 1 in print

After a year in the making, the Mid-Missouri Comics Vol. 1 is in print! The 54-page, perfect bound, anthology features some great work by local artists:

The book looks awesome and the comics in it look even better. Thanks to all the creators who submitted work and thanks to Mizzou Media for doing a great job with the printing.

Copies will be for sale at the 24 Hour Comics Day event for $5 each, so stop by Artlandish anytime between 12 p.m. Oct. 2 and 12 p.m. Oct. 3 and pick up a copy. If you can’t make it to the event, you can snag a copy at a Midmococo meeting or by contacting us.

Ziolko releases Ninjas for Hire

Local cartoonist Scott Ziolko has just released his Ninjas for Hire #1 (of 2) in minicomic form. You can get a copy at Rock Bottom Comics, or check out some of the pages online. The official release of the comic was made for Scott’s recent trip to Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle.

Crockett releases Opey the Warhead Collection

Local comic creator Zac Crockett has just released a collection of the first three issues of everyone’s favorite pre-pubescent nuclear missile, Opey the Warhead.

From the description:

The collection features three issues and a bonus short story, detailing Opey’s various travails, including going to school for the first time, making friends despite his appearance and his first ever crush.

Opey the Warhead is the heartwarming story of a living nuclear warhead and his adventures at an elementary school set in the post-apocalypse.

Izzy Mouse in Vox

Izzy’s 50 States Jam found its way into Vox Magazine this week. In the article, JB Winter talks about how he came up with the idea for the jam and what it was like working with 49 other artists. J.B. Winter creates edible 24 hour comic

Everyone who attended the 24 Hour Comics Day event this year got a special treat from J.B. Winter who created a 24-tortilla comic which he turned into 12 quesadillas.

In more Opey news, Zac Crockett talks of putting together a collection of issues 1-3 with an extra story that never made its way online. That is, if there’s enough interest. Do yourself, and everyone else, a favor and leave a comment telling him to print the damn thing!

Opey deserves to be in print. We eagerly await issue 4.

Izzy Challenge #5

There’s another big release this week with J.B. Winter’s latest epic jam: Izzy Challenge #5.

This book uses contributions from 50 artists from 50 different states to create a collaborative jam featuring Izzy the Mouse. The idea is that Izzy’s touring America and in each of the 50 panels Izzy visits a different state.

The list of contributors is impressive, so head on over to his Etsy store and order a copy. It’s not online, but it’s only a buck. You can afford a buck, right?
